GERALD PRICE MBE – In Memoriam

I set this page up as a small tribute to the life of my father who sadly died on 23 December 2020, aged 93. His funeral was held at Our Lady and St Kenelm’s Catholic Church, Halesowen, at 11:00am on Wednesday 13 January 2021.

This is an extract from the poem that meant so much to him and was the theme of the funeral:

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
"Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown".
And he replied:
"Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way".
So I went forth, and finding the Hand of God, trod gladly into the night.

Following the service, Dad was interred with Mom at St Kenelm’s Church, Romsley, close to what was the family home for forty years.

This is a slideshow in celebration of Dad’s life, consisting of 93 pictures covering his 93 years, accompanied by some of his favourite music:

This is a copy of the eulogy I delivered at his funeral:

This is a recording of the requiem mass. The readings and sermon are at 4:50, the eulogy at 33:50.

A memorial event was held for Dad on 4 September 2022 at Oakfield House. This is a video of that event.

An annual task Dad always enjoyed very much was the preparation of a Christmas Newsletter. He had been sending these since 1997 and this is the collected edition which forms a vivid record of his retirement years.

This is the eulogy I prepared for my mother.
